Governor seeks 'Service Before Self' nominees |
September 18, 2012 |
Every
year the Medal of Honor Society and Foundation
ask Idaho Governor Butch Otter to help find
citizen heroes in Idaho who demonstrated a
willingness to go above and beyond by making
some sort of sacrifice for others. The "Citizen Service Before Self Honors" is an effort to find those unsung heroes among us who, through a single act of heroism or by demonstrating a profound and long-term commitment to selfless service, have performed "above and beyond one's professional area or responsibility or conduct." The Medal of Honor Society is perhaps the most exclusive club in the country. Comprised of fewer than 85 living recipients of the Medal of Honor, this group embodies everything that's great about our country. The virtues of personal sacrifice, courage and valor epitomize their members. "It would indeed be a great tribute to have one of these civilian honors presented to an Idahoan," Otter said. If you know someone who has clearly demonstrated a willingness to sacrifice for others, whether through a single act of extraordinary heroism or through a prolonged series of selfless acts, click here and submit a nomination. The deadline for submission is December 28, 2012. |
