Community yard sale to be a monthly event
|
June 19, 2012 |
Earlier
this year, the owners of Sharon's Country Store
sent up a trial balloon and opened the lot up
for a yard sale, offering folks high-visibility
spaces with Highway frontage for a little of
nothing from where they could display their
wares.
As has been the case for much of this spring,
that Friday in early May saw the rain come down
all day long, and while some folks decided to
stay out of the rain, turnout of the die-hards
at what was billed as a multi-family yard sale
was so good that the sale, renamed the Community
Yard Sale/Flea Market, is going to be a regular
event at Sharon's Country Store and the Bread
Basket Bakery to take place from 8 a.m. to 4
p.m. on the first Friday of each month beginning
July 6.
Everyone with something to sell, be it yard sale
type items, arts, crafts, knick knacks ...
anything but food, are welcome, but space is
limited and will be released on a first
come-first served basis.
The location, 510752 Highway 95 about half a
mile north of Three Mile Junction, is just about
ideal for such an event, with a high volume of
summer traffic in a parking lot that is easy to
pull off in. Whether motorists are traveling
north or south, those passing by can not only
see the sale, but have time to slow down and
turn in.
You can reserve a space for a mere $5 for the
day, but you have to bring your own tables,
canopies and other gear you'll need to show off
what you have to offer. You get to pick your own
spot, with those arriving early having the best
choices.
To assure your space, you need to pay ahead of
time; if you have to cancel, just call. After
the sale, each vendor is asked to clean up
after themselves.
To lock in your space, stop by Sharon's Country
Store or call (208) 610-5705. Whether you're
buying or selling, it sounds like the monthly
Community Yard Sale/Flea Market is going to be
the place to be. You can also find out more by
visiting them on Facebook, just
