Forest practices committee to meet

April 14, 2012
The Idaho Forest Practices Act Advisory Committee (FPAAC) will meet via videoconference from the Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) Coeur d’Alene office and the Boise IDL Director’s Office on Tuesday, April 24.

The purpose of FPAAC, as established by Idaho Code, is to provide technical assistance to IDL and the Idaho State Board of Land Commissioners (Land Board) in matters relating to the Idaho Forest Practices Act.

The committee typically meets two or three times per year depending on current issues. It is comprised of nine voting members appointed by the IDL director for three-year terms. Members include a fisheries biologist; a nonindustrial private forest landowner; two forest landowners, one from northern Idaho and one from southern Idaho; two forest operators, one from northern Idaho and one from southern Idaho; two informed citizens from northern and southern Idaho; and an at-large member.

The FPAAC agenda includes updates on the work of the FPAAC Shade Subcommittee to modify the minimum-shade rule and the streamside-retention rule. The meeting also will include discussion regarding several Forest Practices Act administrative rule changes proposed to be promulgated in 2012.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. (Pacific time) in the Sundance East conference room in the Coeur d’Alene office, and the Garnet West conference room in the Boise office.

The IDL Coeur d’Alene office is located at 3284 W. Industrial Loop in Coeur d’Alene. The Boise IDL Director’s Office is located at 300 N. 6th Street.

The public is invited to the meeting and an RSVP is required for any person wishing to attend. For further information, or to RSVP, contact Ara Andrea at the IDL Coeur d’Alene office, at (208) 666-8636 or aandrea@idl.idaho.gov.
