School district settles sidewalk claims |
March 29, 2012 |
On March 27, 2012, the Boundary County School
District successfully settled its claims against
Walker Construction and Longwell & Trapp
Architects relating to the arbitration dispute
over the construction of the sidewalks at the
Bonners Ferry High School. The settlement was achieved through mediation, and is a full and final resolution to all claims and issues between the parties. Charles B. Lempesis was retained by the parties as the mediator, and the mediation was conducted at his offices in Coeur d’Alene. The District agreed to accept $225,000 in consideration for dismissing its claims with prejudice. At the conclusion of the mediation, the Board of Trustees for the District accepted the offer at a Special Meeting held at the offices of Mr. Lempesis. The damaged sidewalks were successfully repaired in 2010, so this settlement represents the final step to the resolution of all issues relating to the High School Project. The District is satisfied with the settlement terms, and sincerely thanks all of the members of the community for their patience and support. |
