The ballots for the May 15 Boundary County Primary Election are expected to be at the county clerk’s office on Wednesday, and those wishing to vote by absentee ballot can cast their vote at their convenience after that date.

There are several ways to vote absentee; you can stop in at the clerk’s office in the courthouse, 6452 Kootenai Street, Room 22, during regular office hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 28 through May 11, 2012, to request an absentee ballot and cast your vote; or you can write the clerk’s office, P.O. Box 419, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805, at least six days prior to the election to request that an absentee ballot be mailed to you, which you can fill out and mail in, or you can visit the county website elections page, http://www.boundarycountyid.org/clerk/voting.htm, (also available directly by clicking here), scroll down to the bottom of the page and print off an absent elector’s ballot, which you can fill out and mail in.

To be counted, absentee ballots must be received in the clerk’s office no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day.

“Many people think they can only vote absentee if there’s a reason why they can’t make it to the polls on election day, but that’s not the case,” said Boundary County Clerk Glenda Poston. “Absentee voting offers all qualified voters more options and extra convenience.”
