U.S.
Congressman Raul Labrador (R-Idaho),
officially announced his candidacy for a
second term on the steps of the Idaho
Capitol Building February 27. |
Congressman Raúl Labrador officially declared
his candidacy for re-election for Idaho's First
Congressional District on Monday. Labrador, a
first-term Republican representative who has
been touted by House leadership as a leader of
the freshman class, promised his constituents
that if re-elected, he will continue to fight to
instill Idaho values on Capitol Hill and restore
America's path to prosperity.
"It has been a great honor to represent the
people of Idaho's First Congressional District
in the U.S. House of Representatives, and I am
proud to file my declaration of candidacy to
continue to serve them in Washington,"
Congressman Labrador said. "I have kept my
promises to my constituents-- to boldly stand
for our values of limited government, fiscal
responsibility and individual liberty-- and will
continue to do so if re-elected."
As a first-term member of the U.S. House of
Representatives, Congressman Labrador has been
heralded for his legislative efforts. He is
credited with advancing the Balanced Budget
Amendment vote in the debt ceiling negotiations,
as well as his tireless investigation of the
Justice Department's "Fast and Furious" scandal.
In February 2012, Congressman Labrador's bill to
expand geothermal energy exploration passed the
U.S. House of Representatives with a bipartisan
majority.
"I am proud of what I have accomplished in my
first term in Congress, but there is still so
much to be done," Congressman Labrador said.
"Just as I earned the support of voters in 2010,
I know I must earn their continued support in
2012. I look forward to campaigning to every
corner of the First Congressional District,
listening to the concerns of Idahoans and
discussing how we can secure the American Dream
for generations to come." |
