4-H coordinator issues Penguin Plunge challenge |
February 18, 2012 |
To all past and present members, family and
friends of 4-H, My name is Squire Thomas Fields and I am the new 4-H Program Coordinator for Boundary County. On Saturday March 3rd I will be representing the Boundary County 4-H Program to "take the plunge" and show our support for the Idaho Special Olympics program and athletes. The 4-H program has a rich history of supporting and meeting local community needs through hard work and dedication to community service projects. This year, 2012, marks the 100 year anniversary of the 4-H program in Idaho. There will be many local and state level events and activities to celebrate this anniversary, but I am encouraging all current members, past members, families of members and overall supporters of the program to donate to this year’s Penguin Plunge to help support the Idaho Special Olympics events and athletes as our first local event to honor our 100 year mark. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to the Idaho Special Olympics Program. This is not a 4-H fundraiser. This is our chance to come together as a program and community to help support a great cause. No amount of support and no amount of money is too small. All of those crumpled dollar bills and unsorted bags of change add up when you put them all together. If you would like to donate and help 4-H in supporting Idaho Special Olympics please drop off donations at the Boundary County Extension Office or mail them to us at P.O. Box 267, Bonners Ferry, ID 83805. Checks should be made out to “Special Olympics Idaho” and all donations need to be in to the office before March 3. Please feel free to contact me at (208) 267-3235 if you have any questions or would like to represent 4-H and “take the plunge” with me. I put $500 as the goal that I would like the Boundary County 4-H Program to raise, but I think we are capable of much more. Let's show the community what 4-H members and families can do when we work together to support a worthy cause and let's show them the power of youth in action! |
