What better way is there to bring in the New Year than with sunshine and blue sky? Perhaps to soar over the snowcapped peaks glowing pink in the early morning and watch the rising sun's rays glinting golden off the low clouds. It’s a good way to greet the day and the new year.

Jared Brown
Northern Air is proud to announce the first two new pilots of 2012.

On Monday, January 2, Jared Brown of Creston, British Columbia, became the first new pilot of 2012.

Jared owns a 1960 Cessna 172 and has been taking lessons with Northern Air for about a year in between work trips. The day after he got his license, he flew south to Boise for his first big adventure.

On Tuesday, January 3, Adam Alverez, 17, Bonners Ferry, became our first new local pilot.

Adam is the 2009 Youth Aviation Scholarship winner.

He completed ground school last spring and then took his first solo flight on September 9.

Adam Alverez
During the school year, he volunteered and then he worked at the airport through the summer to earn the money to complete his Private Pilot License.

Adam is a natural pilot and an excellent student who will excel at whatever endeavors he pursues, whether it be aviation or anything else.

Private Pilot Ground School has started with a full class this year and Northern Air is looking forward to helping everyone achieve their aviation goals, whether it has been a life long dream of flying or a future career in aviation as a missionary pilot, backcountry bush pilot, flight instructor or airline pilot.
