Habitat acquires land for more homes |

After a long search, Boundary County Habitat for
Humanity, an organization that helps those who
couldn't otherwise afford it achieve the dream
of a home of their own through offering a hand
up, not a hand out, has aquired a large property
on Spokane Street in Bonners Ferry. Since being founded in 1993, the local chapter of the world-wide ecumenical group has helped ten people achieve the dream of home ownership, and the new property, located near Boundary Community Hospital, will, over the next few years, provide space for up to seven more. Unfortunately, though there is a waiting list of applicants, Boundary County Habitat for Humanity does not have funds to start their next Habitat house, so the group is focusing its efforts on raising money through donations and grants. The group, including their newest board member, Ken Myers, is planning a dedication ceremony on their newly acquired property later this year. |
