After an amazingly successful run of "Seussical
Jr.," the old gray church on Ash Street is now
officially being transformed into the Pearl
Theater.
And no one is working harder than Carolyn Testa, dynamo owner of the transformation now underway. She assumes that there's nothing sexier than a woman with tools in hand, and she does have a point, but I think much has to do with the sawdust in her hair and the smile on her face ... as Tim Taylor would say, "Ar Ar Ar Ar AR!" Thanks to five strong young backs and expert guidance, there are now pews in the balcony, and Carolyn and her crew are looking at swatches to upholster them. Even while work is going on to renovate the Pearl, work is underway on the theater's debut performance, Paul Rawling's original play, "No Cure for Love," scheduled for mid-October. Turnout at last week's auditions were great, and the play is an astounding go for production; tentatively scheduled for mid-October, when the transformation is scheduled to be complete. The Pearl Theater is located at 7160 Ash Street, just after the turn-off from I-95. You can follow the Pearl via their facebook site, available by clicking here. If you missed the audition but want to take part, you can still call Paul Rawlings at (208) 267-5332.
