Saturday, June 25, was the second Huckleberry Pancake breakfast of the season at the Boundary County Airport. Thankfully the sun burned off the morning fog and there was a good turnout of planes from out of town, and the EAA chapter served a record 150 plates of delicious huckleberry pancakes.

 

Local pilot and craftsman, Charlie Brown, completed his rebuild of a 1928 Stearman biplane after six years of hard work.

 

He took his inaugural flight on June 22 and then brought it out to show at the breakfast on Saturday and a number of people got to see his work of art up close. 

 

Brian Tackett of Montana finished his Private pilot license June 25 and brought his family out for his first flight as a new pilot. Brian and his family recently moved to the area from Memphis, Tennessee. He began working on his private license in 2009 at various flight schools, and Northern Air was happy to help him complete it this week. Brian owns a Coot amphibious airplane that he plans to learn to fly this summer and explore some of the local lakes.


Michelle Spear
Michelle Spear, a native of Sandpoint, and has completed her first year of Engineering at the University of Idaho. Michelle began flying with her dad back in 2005 and is working toward her private pilot license. She completed her first solo flight on June 26 in her dad’s Cessna 172 and is looking forward to becoming a pilot.

 

Jeremy Belford-Cave, the new student from Australia, is working hard on his private pilot license and has successfully completed his first solo flight on June 27, 2011 after two weeks of training. Jeremy’s parents at home in Australia were able to watch his flight from the Northern Air web-cam!

 

On June 16 the local EAA chapter will be doing the annual Young Eagles flight, giving flights to kids ages 8-17 who haven’t flown before. Come out to Northern Air to take a scenic flight of the area, learn to fly, or just come in for a visit with the friendly staff and have an ice cream! Give us a call 208 267 4359.
