Habitat for Humanity looking for land
|
March 29, 2011 |
Boundary
County Habitat for Humanity is seeking donated
building lots or parcels of land that can be
divided into building lots in the City of
Bonners Ferry to help local citizens who
couldn't otherwise afford it live the dream of
home ownership.
The group is an affiliate of Habitat for
Humanity International, a non-profit, ecumenical
Christian housing organization dedicated giving
potential homeowners "a hand up, not a hand
out," investing "sweat equity" in helping
family, friends and volunteers build their homes
and the homes of others. Since the local chapter
was founded in the early 1990s, more than a
dozen families have benefited.
The payments they make on their interest-free
mortgages go back into the "Fund for Humanity"
to help build more homes for other families
struggling to live the American dream, bring
stability to their families and make everyone
involved more engaged in their community.
Boundary County Habitiat for Humanity is a
501(c)(3) charitable organization, and donations
may be tax deductible. If you can't make a
donation of land, there are others ways to help,
either by donating materials, labor, expertise
or by making a cash donation.
To find out more, write Boundary County Habitat
for Humanity, PO Box 423, Bonners Ferry, ID
83805, or call (208) 267-7733. |
