Remembering and honoring our law enforcement officers
May 11, 2015
May 10, 2015

To the Editor:

The week of May 10 through May 16 is National Police Officer Memorial Week, to honor those that serve and that have made the ultimate sacrifice. As we are reminded with the tragic loss of Sgt. Greg Moore of the Coeur d’ Alene Police Department, we are also reminded of all the Officers that serve with valor and distinction. In the years that I knew Sgt. Moore he always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude. My prayers are with his family and fellow officers.

The same day of Sgt. Moore’s funeral, two Mississippi officers were shot and killed during a traffic stop. Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant said it well, “This should remind us to thank all law enforcement for their unwavering service to protect and serve. May God keep them all in the hollow of his hand.”

Law Enforcement is made up of different uniforms, departments, and agencies, but they all have a common goal of protecting and serving the communities that they live in. The most recent crime report for Idaho shows that 266 law enforcement Officers in our State were assaulted in one year.

If you have an opportunity please thank a law enforcement Officer, Dispatcher, or Corrections Officer for the job they are doing to make our community a safer place.

Dave Kramer
