New generations coming home |
May 31, 2013 |
By Idaho Governor Butch Otter On Memorial Day I spent some time with many of my good friends in Bonners Ferry. American Legion Post 55 is undergoing an extensive renovation and I was invited to come out and rededicate this historic facility. The post and its newly rededicated mission speak to the continuing and growing importance of veterans' organizations like the American Legion. I noted that day that new generations of war veterans are returning home with a desire to continue making a difference in their communities. These groups help our returning warriors deal with such issues as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and advocating for veterans' rights. I salute their patriotism, loyalty and fidelity. We must always remember to honor their sacrifice. |
