Idiots costing us with every bomb hoax |
March 18, 2013 |
It's Monday, March 18, and I have just pulled up
News Bonners Ferry on my computer and once again
read the headline "School Bomb Treat Called In." I am just an ordinary resident of Bonners Ferry, I have no children attending school. I am not privy to any of the 'inside information' that may be known to school officials or local law enforcement. I really don't care about 'privacy data' regarding under age students. Every time I read of another such incident I think of the officers and firefighters who have to respond. Many of the firefighters are volunteers, so they have to leave their jobs and drop anything else they may be doing to respond. The officers are pulled away from their normal duties or become less available to respond to other emergencies that may occur. I think of the costs involved to the county, the city and the school district. Which, by the way, all of us ordinary residents are actually paying. So, having said all that, what I want to see as an ordinary resident of Bonners Ferry are charges filed. If help is needed from state or federal agencies to make this happen, then let's get it. The kids, adults or families involved should face charges. Including the people who may know what's going on and just aren't saying anything. It's time this craziness stops. I do not doubt our local law enforcement members or their abilities. However, I can't help but wonder, because this is a school situation, why tougher actions aren't being taken. I may be totally wrong here and if so I apologize to all involved. But, this has to stop and those idiots who are costing the rest of us money every time this happens need to pay. |
