Republican Steve Yates is running for Idaho Lieutenant Governor in 2018 to put his conservative principles into action. Steve’s 25-year career in public service, beginning as a China policy expert and culminating with his election as Chairman of the Idaho Republican Party, included time at the conservative Heritage Foundation and advising Vice President Dick Cheney as his Deputy National Security Advisor. Since 2011, Steve has run his business here in Idaho, where he’s dedicated his time and energy to serving Republicans across the state. As our next Lieutenant Governor, Steve said he will continue his lifelong work protecting our shared conservative values, controlling government spending, standing up for education, and strengthening our economy to create good jobs. In a letter to Yates, Vice President Cheney said “The future of our Party and nation depend on our ability to recruit and elect men and women committed to the values upon which our republic was founded. I know firsthand your dedication and devotion to these principles. I share your conviction that we have an obligation to make certain our children and grandchildren have the same opportunities we’ve had. I am happy to support your efforts, and wish you every success in your campaign.” “I am honored to have the support of such a distinguished national leader and influential conservative voice over many decades” said Yates. "Serving in Vice President Cheney's office as a Deputy National Security Advisor, I learned valuable lessons in leadership and service. I hope to bring these traits with me to the Statehouse as Idaho's next Lieutenant Governor" "I am delighted to see that you have decided to run for public office," Cheney wrote. "You did outstanding work for me during my time as Vice President. I especially appreciated your efforts as we wrestled with difficult and challenging problems in the aftermath of 9/11. Your work as a deputy on my national security staff and your knowledge and expertise of key areas of the world were invaluable to me. "The future of our party and our nation depend upon our ability to recruit and elect men and women committed to the values upon which our republic was founded. I know first hand your dedication and devotion to those principles. I share your conviction that we have an obligation to make certain our children and grandchildren have the same opportunities we've had." "I am happy to be able to support your efforts and wish you every success in your campaign." |
