College-bound Badgers, mark your calendars |
October 18, 2017 |
Any students interested in taking dual credit
courses so as to earn college credits while
still in high school, saving big tuition dollars
at the same time, need to meet with counselor
Bonners Ferry High School advanced opportunities
counselor Jennifer Mackey soon!
And students with an eye toward college after
graduating BFHS, as well as their parents, might
want to mark down a couple of impending dates as
well.
Parent Information Night for seniors and juniors
is right around the corner! It will be from 5 to
7 p.m. Thursday, November 2, at the high school.
Topics including admissions, financial aid,
ACT/SAT testing and more will be presented.
Idaho College Application Week is November 6-9!
Seniors will be applying to a post-secondary
institution during their government class on
Monday. If a student doesn't have government,
they need to meet with Mrs. Mackey as soon as
possible.
College Application Week is an event coordinated
by The Office of the State Board of Education.
More than 80 high schools in Idaho participate.
All 50 states and District of Columbia are part
of this nation-wide initiative to provide every
graduating senior the opportunity to apply to
college.
The state has waived application fees to certain
schools within the state, so for many students,
making the application is free. On Monday,
November 6, students will need to know their
social security number and know which schools
they want to apply to.
As part of Idaho College Application Week,
Bonners Ferry High School will be hosting its
FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
Frenzy Nights on Monday and Thursday, November 6
and 9. These will take place during Student
Teacher Conferences, so that seniors and their
parents can make the most of their visit. There
will be a representative from NIC present to
answer questions regarding the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid.
