By Principal David Miles II School is already 1/8th of the way done? Hard to believe time can go so fast, but when you are really busy, I guess it is hard to see time go by. BCMS is as active as always while students and staff participate in a myriad of events. First, let’s congratulate our September Citizens of the Month for showing responsibility. Sixth grade students were Asha Abubakari and Addy Heigel, seventh grade was Travis “Junior” Atkins, eighth grade was Wyatt Hart and Sierra Petesch, and our staff selection was Mr. Paul Bonnell. All these individuals show great respect to others!
BCMS recently celebrated Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness by having students and staff dress up wearing pink (photo above). It was amazing to see how many students and staff took part. The school even played a few songs about the color pink in between classes to help raise the spirit! Here are some of the goings-on in the days ahead: * Choir will be hosting a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 17. * We will be having a Pep/Fall sports recognition assembly at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 19, to celebrate the many successes and participation of our fall athletes. There is our final home volleyball game at 4:30 p.m. that day as well. * We will be participating in Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 23. * We will also be hosting a book fair during the week of October 23. * Band is hosting its annual Spaghetti Feed and Band Concert beginning at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, October 24. * BCMS Leadership is sponsoring a “Ladies in Leadership” event at the Homestead Great Room on David Thompson Way from 9 a.m. To 1 p.m. Saturday, October 28. This event will have several local vendors selling their wares as a celebration and recognition of local lady leaders. You can contact Kelly Hinthorn to get more information. * Picture retakes will be October 30. * The end of the quarter is November 2! Our students are also involved in several other projects. Staff is gearing up to roll out more options such as the Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest, the spelling bee, the geography bee and ongoing art endeavors. Of course, Halloween is coming up soon as well. BCMS is allowing costumes to be worn on Halloween Day as long as faces are not covered and weapons are not brought to school (real or fake). We will also be having activities at the end of the day on Halloween that students can earn by having good grades and no real behavior concerns! Due to this being mid-quarter already, we sent report cards home with students on Wednesday, October 11. GO BADGERS! |
